About Princes Risborough: Princes Risborough is a small market town situated in Buckinghamshire (Bucks), England, United Kingdom, it is placed roughly eight miles north-west of High Wycombe and approximately nine miles to the south of Aylesbury (the county town). In the 2011 census, Princes Risborough had 8,101 residents (a tiny rise on the 2001 figure of 7,978). The town is placed at the foot of the pretty Chiltern Hills and can be accessed by way of the A4010 which runs between West Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville.

When the Domesday Book was put together in 1086, the town was called Risborough and was a royal manor (before the conquest controlled by King Harold). Its name derives from the old English which means something like "scrub covered hills" or "brushwood covered hills". It changed its name to Princes Risborough when the manor was held by the Black Prince (Edward) in 1344. This area was without a doubt inhabited long before this and possibly grew as a link for anyone travelling between the Icknield Way and the River Thames, due to its lying in a broad gap in the Chiltern Hills.

Princes Risborough became a market town in the early Sixteenth Century after it was granted a royal charter by King Henry 8th, this enabled it to put on a market weekly (held on Thursdays) and two annual fairs (still held at present in October and May).

Princes Risborough today is a bustling little town, though the centre and High St has been calmer since the completion of the "by-pass" New Road in the 1980's.
